What is Microneedling & How does it Work?
Microneedling is a minimally-invasive, skin care treatment that minimizes skin concerns and improves its texture and appearance.
At Organic Glow Medical Aesthetics we use SkinPen, a single-use needle device that creates controlled micro-channels in the skin. This process breaks down scar tissue and old collagen, and stimulates your body’s natural healing response. This process increases your collagen and elastin synthesis for months beyond your session!

Recovery Expectations
Think of this as a reset for your skin. A little redness today leads to brighter, healthier skin with each treatment in your series.
Recovery – Immediately post treatment skin will be red and warm, similar to a sunburn. This will fade within the first day or two
Flaking and peeling – May occur in the week post treatment, avoid picking or peeling and stick to your post care skin care
Onset of results – Skin will feel firmer and glowy in the weeks following treatment, though long term changes happen slowly has permanent collagen is built over months

How many microneedling treatments will I need?
You may need between 1 to 6 SkinPen microneedling treatments to achieve your desired results. The number of treatments depends on a variety of factors, book a complimentary consultation to see what is right for you!
Is microneedling safe?
Yes! SkinPen is the first FDA-approved microneedling device. Its patented and single-use sterile needle cartridge is built with safety in mind. It is surrounded by a custom designed bioSheath that acts as a barrier to prevent cross-contamination between procedures.
Is microneedling painful?
Microneedling is performed by a professional with a topical anesthetic to numb the skin. The depth of treatment is adjustable, so it is safe to use on the entire face, as well as the neck and even the hands. Most clients rate the discomfort as 2 out of 10.
How can I prepare for my microneedling appointment in Kelowna?
Avoid sun exposure/burns 2 weeks prior to procedure.
Discontinue use of retinoids 48 hours prior to procedure.
If you have an active breakout, the area will be avoided.
Wait 6 months following isotretinoin (accutane) use.
If prone to cold sores, use medication as prescribed by your doctor prior to your treatment.
What are the side effects and aftercare of microneedling?
After your treatment, you may feel like you have a sunburn for approx. 24-48 hours or more depending on your sensitivity.
You may experience itchy, dry, and tight skin. In the week following treatment you skin may flake or peel.
Avoid the following activities for the next 24-72 hours:
Direct sun exposure
High intensity exercise / sweating
Swimming, hot tubs, and saunas
